This 120-credit BSN program is purposed to prepare new students who satisfied its entry requirements make grand entrances into great nursing careers. To maximize dramatic impact of their future debuts into command performances, DON subscribes to a philosophy of holistic healthcare with high sensitivity to environmental, personal, and medical aspects. BSN believes this strategy is the best way to build solid foundations for professional development.

A major manifestation of this abstract institutional mentality is DON’s Degree Plus Accelerated BSN Option. This expedited alternate route to nursing education is open to those with non-BSN undergraduate or higher degrees and prior academic histories that include all prerequisites. Accelerated BSN students receive advanced admission directly into an intensive, fast-paced learning track that leads to program completion in just 14 months. Program: Integrated Nursing Pathway Bachelor of Science in Nursing (“INP-BSN”)

Despite prior association with long-defunct prejudicial practices, “Integrated” has quite different positive connotations of laudable collaboration in this program. INP-BSN is the ingenious progeny of a strategic partnership between DON and the College of Nursing (“CON”) at University of Colorado. DON/CON devised this cooperative instructional scheme to address a common concern of nursing aspirants and the public about a persistent paucity of qualified healthcare providers.

INP-BSN portends to make its parents proud of its good behavior as perfect win-win solution that meets urgent needs for nursing education and healthcare access. Community college students traditionally limited to two-year associate’s degrees may now pursue a four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing without cramping their lifestyles or denting their budgets one bit. Likewise, patients currently look forward to better healthcare much sooner than they could have ever imagined before INP-BSN.

Prospective students who previously completed at least 32 credits in specific introductory–level coursework immediately commence a 96-credit trip to BSN program Commencement exercises. This journey alternates between class attendance at CCA and CON campuses. Besides being able to remain comfortably situated in present physical locations, INP-BSN students enjoy expanded peer support from CON nursing classmates and easy access to future-generation training technologies at University of Colorado’s famous Anschutz Medical Campus. Perhaps the biggest vested benefit that INP-BSN tenure imparts is instructional delivery from the 15th best nursing degree program in the nation.

Program: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (“BSN”)

This 128-credit BSN program features a full spectrum of academic factions from Humanities, Religion, Science, and Liberal Arts fields as well as nursing major attractions for upperclassmen. Throughout those final four semesters, students amass vast particularized instruction, training, and expertise via various clinical engagements.

An especially unique element of LHSN education is Service Learning. That specialized device is a distinctive yet essential curricular dynamic designed to instill spirits of volunteerism and community activism into students. By way of example, Service Learning Coordinator and nursing faculty collaborate with students wanting to facilitate future success to establish applicable service-learning projects throughout local, national, and global healthcare landscapes.

Toward LHSN’s long-standing laudable efforts to enhance educational effectiveness, success, and access, its BSN degrees exist in two schemes: Traditional and Accelerated. The former entails two years of full-time study in underclass prerequisite courses followed by two years of full-time advanced studies in nursing coursework. The latter program provides an opportunity to earn a BSN in just one year for non-working students with non-nursing bachelor’s degrees. Although the Accelerated curriculum is more intensive than the Traditional version, both variants feature the same number of total credits and substantive content of required coursework. Students in both BSN programs must complete at least 772 hours of clinical participation.

This option provides a conventional pathway to BSN conferral that entails successful completion of 66 credits in advanced nursing coursework, clinical practice, and clinical simulation. It is open to students with or without degrees in any discipline who have previously completed all prerequisites.

• University of Colorado Accelerated Nursing (“UCAN”)

As its title implies, UCAN provides an expedited path of BSN pursuit that enables students to accomplish this academic agenda in just 12 months of full-time, fast-paced, high-intensity studies. Despite far more rigorous scheduling and attendance requirements, UCAN’s curricular content and volume is identical to its Traditional analogue.

Although UCAN is not slated for initial launch until January 2014, applications are accepted as of November 2013.
