School of Nursing (“SON”)

SON’s mission is designed to fully align with that of institutional parent UHH to provide a learning culture of responsiveness to diverse student needs with a strong focus on high-quality, personalized education.

Bachelors in Nursing

• High School Direct Entry BSN

This 76-credit curriculum is designed for Hawaii high school graduates who learn best through guided independent studies. Students complete all prerequisites during their first year and commence advanced nursing coursework in the second year.

• Hawai’i Statewide Nursing Consortium (“HSNC”) BSN

Available throughout the entire University of Hawaii system, this BSN program features a strong clinical emphasis. Admission to this 76-credit three-year curriculum requires prior completion of all general prerequisites.

• HSNC BSN for Associate Degree Nursing (“ADN”) Graduates

This 34-credit BSN curriculum consists of a statewide consortium and is available to students at UH’s Kauai Community College and Maui College. Instruction is delivered via the Hawaii Interactive Television Service (“HITS”) to allow busy working nurses to balance academic and family lives.

• RN to BSN

This new 34-credit BSN curriculum is designed as an efficient bridge to BSN conferral for RNs with fewer than two years of work experience.

• Executive RN to BSN

Except for more than two years’ nursing experience, this new 40-credit SONDH curriculum has an identical as that of above-listed sister program.
